FORT HOOD, TX — Lt. Gen. Pat White, the commanding general of III Corps, has temporarily suspended Commanding Sgt. Maj. Arthur "Cliff" Burgoyne III for allegedly using unprofessional language toward subordinates.

The U.S. Army Forces Command is conducting an investigation into the allegations to determine "the facts and an appropriate response."

According to military officials, the investigation is unrelated to prior or ongoing investigations of III Corps and Fort Hood.

Officials also say that a suspension is a temporary removal, often pending the results of an investigation. It is not punitive in nature.

U.S. Army Forces Command is the Army major command within the United States that includes III Corps. It is based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
