BRYAN, TX — Texas Ave. will be getting a face-lift.
The City of Bryan said that this year the city is planning a $29 million beautification project a 5 miles stretch of Texas Ave.
The corridor from Highway 21 down to the intersection of University Drive will see improvements such as better sidewalks, raised medians with landscape, fewer utility poles, new turn lanes and upgrades to older traffic signals.
“So the improvements will be such that Texas Avenue will be a more enticing place to go,” Daniel Rudge, executive director of the metropolitan planning organization said. “With the sidewalks it will provide places to wait for the bus for example, it will also mean that Texas Avenue will look a lot better and that can be attractive to attracting more businesses along the corridor.”
The City of Bryan will be holding a public hearing on the matter later this year in June.
