COLLEGE STATION, TX — Everyone in Texas knows that Texas A&M has arguably more traditions than any other campus in the state, but have you heard of bottle cap alley?
In Aggieland, there is an alley full of bottle caps that Aggies love to take photos in. Shiner has even donated more than 300,000 bottle caps to the alley.
There are plenty of rumors of how Bottle Cap Alley got its start. The most popular theory comes from the alley's neighbor, Dixie Chicken.
Word is that bar employees would dump bottle caps from the evening in the alley after their shift.
Over time, the bottle caps have decreased. Some collectors like to take a piece of Bottle Cap Alley home with them.
It is said that the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets wear the caps as spurs on their boots when A&M plays Southern Methodist University.
So if you have a chance to visit the infamous alley, be sure to leave a bottle cap or two.
