BRAZOS COUNTY — Brazos County Judge Duane Peters has signed a disaster declaration for the county following the hail storms in the last week of May.
This declaration will allow for a more expedient funding process to make emergency temporary repairs to county property.
Several County-owned buildings suffered significant roof damage, including the county jail, juvenile detention center, health district, road and bridge department, and the county administration building.
“With an approaching tropical depression, and the possibility of more potentially damaging storms, it’s necessary that we move quickly to protect the interior of these buildings from sustaining any more damage,” Judge Peters said.
This disaster declaration remains in effect for seven days, unless officials determine the necessity of an extension.
