COLLEGE STATION, TX — A College Station Police Officer on a motorcycle was involved in a crash involving another vehicle today.
At about 3:36 p.m. a silver SUV in the outside northbound lane of Wellborn Rd., just north of Holleman Dr., began moving into the inside lane, striking a CSPD police motorcycle (northbound in the inside lane), according to College Station Police.
The collision caused the motorcycle to fall onto its right side.
The officer separated from the motorcycle while falling clear of both vehicles.
The officer suffered minor, non-incapacitating injury.
The officer’s ballistic vest was damaged, preventing additional injuries, according to police.
The SUV driver was uninjured. Both vehicles sustained very minor damage.
In accordance with policy for crashes involving departmental vehicles, a supervisor responded for the investigation.
The driver of the SUV was cited for unsafe lane change. The scene was cleared at about 4:30 p.m.
