College Station man arrested for sending sexual messages to a 14-year-old

COLLEGE STATION, TX — A College Station man was arrested for sending sexual messages to a 14-year-old on Snapchat.

College Station Police say on April 15, they responded to a report of online soliciation of a minor.

A 14-year-old said a 21-year-old man, later identified as Dayden Cole Lane, was using Snapchat to communicate with her in a harassing and sexual manner.

Police say the messaged were described to be sent in an effort to meet up and engage in sexual intercourse.

The minor says she was introduced to Lane in January 2019 while he was at lunch visiting with a relative.

Detectives were granted a search warrant on June 18, 2019 to Lane's Snapchat.

On September 25, 2019, detectives received files from his Snapchat and found conversations about the minor with his relative.

Detectives say on Dec. 2, 2019, they spoke to Lane, who admitted that he sent sexual messages to the 14-year-old.

Lane said he knew the victim was 14-years-old when he engaged with her and knew it was inappropriate.

Lane also confirmed that he tried to meet up with the 14-year-old to have sex.

Lane was charged with online solicitation of a minor and is being held in the Brazos County Jail.
