COLLEGE STATION, TX — Three hundred homes and counting. That's how may houses Habitat for Humanity in Bryan-College Station has constructed since starting in 1989.

The 300th house will be the first to be built outside of the Bryan-College Station city limits. The structure will be 1,300-square-feet.

Over the weekend, volunteers showed up to help raise the walls and frame the house. Officials with Habitat for Humanity say it's a major milestone.

"Oh it's awesome. We are thrilled to have been able to make it over 30 years. 300 homes. 30 years. I think it's a great milestone. We've helped over 1,000 people, built 300 homes for 300 families. It feels great," said Charles Coats with the Brazos County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

The house should take a few months to complete. It is being constructed for the Garcia family of Bryan.
