BRAZOS COUNTY — Brazos County Emergency Dispatch is hiring.
They're on the front lines from minor incidents to major accidents.
"In those kinds of emergencies, seconds do count," said dispatcher Kris Fox.
No prior experience is required, but applicants will go through a series of steps including a typing test, multi-tasking test and several rounds of interviews.
Then, newly hired dispatchers will be trained both in the classroom and beside experienced dispatchers like Fox.
"You have to have a passion for helping people," said Fox.
Once hired, the training takes five to six months so they're calm when the public needs them most.
"Getting a chance to make a difference every day, whether I save someone's life, it's something everyday I'm able to help people." said Fox.
