FORT HOOD — The widow of Pvt Gregory Wedel-Morales, the Fort Hood soldier who disappeared in August 2019 and whose skeletal remains were found in a field 10 months later, has been arrested for possible animal cruelty charges.

Fort Hood officials say around 10 a.m. on July 16, the Fort Hood Military Police desk received a complaint of potential animal cruelty or neglect.

Around noon, Penny Morales of Fort Hood was placed under apprehension at her on-post residence and transported to the Military Police Station for possible cruelty to non-livestock animal charges.

Officials say there is no indication that this incident was related to the case looking into the death of her husband.

The incident remains under investigation.
