TEMPLE, TEXAS — Excitement is building for the 73rd Annual Temple Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade.
Nothing gets Lucille Scurzi in the Christmas spirit more than parade day.
“The lord has blessed me with very good health and mostly memory where I can tell them what songs we are going to sing," Scurzi said.
At 100 years old, Scurzi hasn’t let her age keep her from skipping a beat.
Her group of friends at Meridian Senior Living Community, also known as the “Meridian Dancers”, are ready to sing and dance to Christmas songs on their parade float.
"I send them notices, I put a notice in each box telling them all the information they need to know about our performances," Scurzi said.
After 19 consecutive years performing in the parade, she still says the real joy comes from all seeing all of the smiles.
"They are out there cheering on, ya know. Little children and parents. They love to come to that parade," Scurzi said.
