TEMPLE, TX — A man that was arrested by Temple police in connection to a fatal beating in February, was indicted on Wednesday.
The man was indicted for manslaughter.
Police said early Feb. 12, they found a 44-year-old man badly beaten at the Econo Lodge on N. General Bruce Drive. The suspect had run away from the scene.
The victim, Manish Patel, was rushed to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition. Police said five days later on Feb. 17 he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have now shifted their investigation from assault to homicide.
On March 2, police arrested 28-year-old Montreal Wright when an officer recognized him during a traffic stop. There was a warrant out for Wright's arrest for the murder of Patel.
He booked into the Bell County Jail on a murder charge. His bond has been set at $500,000.
