Suspect arrested after man found dead in yard in Killeen

KILLEEN, TX — A man has been charged with murder after Killeen Police say they found a man shot dead in a front yard.

22-year-old Jovino Jamel Roy was charged with murder on March 24th.

His bond is set at $1,000,000. Roy is currently in the Bell County Jail.

Police said officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Dustin Ct in reference to a shooting victim at approximately 10:46 p.m.

Officers arrived to find a man dead in the front yard of a residence with multiple gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical.

During the altercation, the suspect fired several shots at the victim and fled the area.

Officers in the area located the suspect at a nearby convenience store; he was taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail.

The victim, Michael Steven Wardrobe, 22, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters at 11:22 p.m. at the scene.
