Police say a man has been arrested in connection with the aggravated assault that occurred on August 19 and left a victim in critical condition.

On Aug. 19 at 7:34 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Yuma Trail in reference to a report of an assault. A victim was able to provide limited information to who the suspect was. The victim was then transported to the hospital and later transported by flight to Baylor Scott and White in Temple due to severity of injuries.

On Saturday, Aug. 24, Harker Heights police and Bell County Crime Task Force, along with other agencies, arrested Joshua Elijah Nichols on a warrant in connection with the aggravated assault investigation.

Officials say they found Nichols at a home in Harker Heights and he was arrested without incident.

Nichols is being held at Bell County jail on a bond of $100,000.
