One dead after crash involving tractor trailer on Highway 36

One person is dead and another has "major injuries" after a wreck on State Highway 36 and Leona Park Rd.

The accident occurred around 1:25 pm.

Texas DPS Troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatality crash involving a truck tractor semi-trailer and a passenger car.

A 2001 Acura CLS sedan operated by, Dallas Scott Paschall, 20, of Temple, was stopped at the stop sign at Leona Park Ln. and SH 36, according to DPS.

A 2004 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was northbound on SH 36.

Investigation revealed the Acura failed to yield right of way at a stop sign and pulled into the path of the truck tractor.

The truck tractor impacted the Acura on the driver side.

Paschall was pronounced deceased on scene by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield.

A 22 year old male passenger in the Acura was transported to Scott and White ER for incapacitating injuries.

The crash scene is active and ongoing.

The roadway has reopened but work crews are still on the scene.

The family of the deceased has been notified.
