Police are searching for a man who broke into a home on the 2200 block of Wheeler Avenue Sunday morning. The victim shot at the suspect when he entered the victim's bedroom.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, weighing about 135 pounds and 5'6" tall. He was last seen wearing gray sweat pants and no shirt. Detectives think the suspect was wounded when the victim shot at him.

At 5:09 a.m., officers responded to the burglary call.

Police said the victim was asleep when they heard noises coming from inside the home. The victim then retrieved a gun. When the unknown man entered the victim's bedroom, the victim shot at the burglar.

Police said the suspect then fled the home headed eastbound on Wheeler Avenue.
