KILLEEN, TX — The Killeen Police Department is mourning after the death of one of their K9 officers.
"It is with heavy hearts that we share the unfortunate news of the sudden passing of one of our own today. K9 Officer Todd Shoemaker passed away unexpectedly in his home this morning," the department posted.
Officer Shoemaker, started his career with the Killeen Police Department in January of 2006.
His K9, Arco, began training with him in 2013.
“Officer Shoemaker’s untimely passing has saddened the entire KPD family. He is going to be missed by all who knew and served with him, “ Police Chief Charles Kimble.
"Rest In Peace to our brother in blue," the department said. "Please keep his family, his friends, and our officers in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
