TEMPLE, TX — Christmas came early for the McLane Children's Medical Center in Temple, Wednesday afternoon.

Long-tome muscular dystrophy patient and community member Allison Dickson donated 425 stuffed animals, referred to as "Herbie the Hedgehog", to the McLane Children's Medical Center, The Children's Advocacy Center, and Dallas Children's Hospital.

For her third annual Brighten a Child's Holiday Project, Dixon was planning on donating 200 stuffed animals to McLane Children's patients who were admitted during the holidays, but unfortunately she became ill, and was hospitalized.

Now that she is home and healthy, Allison is continuing her tradition of giving back to the community.

"Anyway that I can give back and support the community, I want to do," said Dixon, "I mean we're not here forever, and so to me, I want to use the time I have to make a difference, and give back. I can't think of a better place to do it than right here in Bell County."

$500 will go to the Allison Dickson Temple Proud Scholarship, and $2,000 has already gone to The Allison Dickson Baylor Law Scholarship.

Dixon is already preparing for next year with a new critter. "Finley the fox will be next stuffed animal," said Dixon.
