Former Belton police chief passes away at age 90

BELTON, TX — Former Belton Police Chief Roy Kneese has died at the age of 90 in his home in Belton. He passed away on Dec. 13.

Kneese served as police chief in Belton from 1974 to 1995.

"Our condolences on the loss of Retired Belton Police Chief Roy Kneese. He lived an incredible life of service, serving our nation in the Army, then our community for nearly 3 decades. Retired Chief Kneese will be missed!" the Belton Police Department said.

Kneese served in the Army before joining the Belton Police Department. He joined the Army in 1947 when he was 17 and was stationed at Fort Hood.

He retired from the Army in 1968 after serving in both the Korean and Vietnam war.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18 at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with David Pustka officiating. Burial with honors will follow at the North Belton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-7p.m. on Thursday evening at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel.
