TEMPLE, TX — Temple Fire and Rescue responded to a large fire on N. Fourth Street Friday morning. Two houses were affected.

Around 5:15 a.m., firefighters responded to heavy fire from a wood frame house that caused a neighboring home's vinyl sliding to melt.

The 700 block of N. Fourth Street was closed to traffic as crews battle the fire Friday morning.

One home is considered a total loss. City of Temple crews will be tearing it down due to its instability later on Friday.

Two adults that were inside one of the homes safely escaped the flames, Temple Fire and Rescue said.

By 6:07 a.m., the fire was contained, but was still burning by 10:45 a.m.
