BELL COUNTY, TX — The Bell County Sheriff's Department said a correctional officer has tested positive for COVID-19.
The officer contracted the virus through community spread, and at this time, there is no other COVID-19 cases within the Bell County Sheriff’s Department.
In a press conference, it was announced that officials requested the Coronavirus task force team to test all inmates and staff in the jail.
It will take approximately 5 days to test the 1,000+ staff and inmates and more information will be available at a later time.
