Father, stepmother arrested after 6-year-old found dead in home

BRYAN, TX — UPDATE: Bryan Police arrested Justin Hopper, 29, of Bryan on Friday in connection to the death of his 6-year-old daughter.

Hopper has been charged with two counts of injury to a child. Bryan Police confirmed Hopper is the father of the 6-year-old girl who was found dead in her home Tuesday with bruises all over her body and small puncture marks in her torso.

Her stepmother, Jessica Bundren, was arrested the same day after calling police.

Hopper is being held on a $250,000 bond.

The Bryan Police Department has arrested a woman for injury of a child after her stepdaughter was found dead in her home.

The suspect, Jessica Bundren, called police on Tuesday and said her 6-year-old stepdaughter had fallen down two steps. Bundren said that she was sent to bed and was later found not breathing.

Police said the child was found with bruises all over her body. She also had small puncture marks in her torso.

Police said they questioned Bundren about the marks, and she said she had spanked the child for wetting the bed. She said when this happens, the child was forced to sleep on the bed.

Bundren is being held on a $250,000 bond.
