Twenty-four of the 577 inmates currently in the Brazos County Detention Center have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Sheriff Chris Kirk.
Another 10 inmates are currently in quarantine awaiting results.
Eight staff members have also tested positive with about 9 in quarantine.
Sheriff Kirk reported the information to County Commissioners Tuesday. He says two dorms at the Brazos County Detention Center are currently isolated to contain the spread.
"We continue to work with local health authorities and medical staff and are doing our best to manage exposure," Sheriff Kirk said.
