Bryan man dead after four-vehicle crash on SH 30

One person is dead and another was transported to the hospital in serious condition after a crash on SH 30 Friday morning.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a four-vehicle fatality crash on SH 30 near the Grimes County line.

The preliminary crash report indicates on Dec. 18 at approximately 11:41 a.m., the driver and passenger of a 2009 Chevrolet pick-up truck with trailer were standing outside of the vehicle which was partially off the roadway on SH 30 facing west.

A 2000 Mack truck traveling westbound on SH 30 struck the rear of the Chevrolet and driver/passenger.

A 2019 Western truck and 2009 Jeep SUV were also involved in the crash.

The driver of the Mack truck, 54 – year old James Brewster of Bryan, TX was not injured.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 32-year-old Jose Luis Cardoza of Bryan, TX was pronounced deceased on scene. DPS says he was not inside the vehicle during the crash.

The passenger of the Chevrolet, 19-year-old John Garcia of Bryan, TX was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital (Bryan) in stable condition. Garcia was also not inside the vehicle during the crash, according to DPS.

The driver of the Western truck, 54–year-old Martin Ramos of College Station, TX was not injured.

The driver of the Jeep, 75-year-old Paula Walker of Iola, TX was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station in serious condition.

This is an on-going investigation.
