COLLEGE STATION, TX — The city of College Station has recently become Film Friendly Texas certified by the Texas Film Commission.

College Station now joins more than 140 Film Friendly Texas certified communities. The City will receive ongoing training from the Texas Film Commission in promoting the community as a premiere destination for film and related media productions.

Economic Development Manager for the City of College Station Aubrey Nettles says that the recognition is no surprise, College Station boasts a ton of great sights and landscapes.

"We have beautiful natural area. We have the Brazos Valley. We have the Veterans Memorial, Kyle Field, the Academic Buildings," she said.

In addition to a great, vibrant scene, College Station also has a very welcoming environment.

"When you come to College Station, you are treated with kindness and grace and we are able to assist you however you need help," Nettles added.

Being a Film Friendly Texas community helps add production jobs and also contributes to local on-site spending.

"There are people coming to our community to film. They are buying materials for the film. They are staying in our hotels. They are eating at our restaurants. They are also enjoying our entertainment," said Nettles.

The Economic Development Department worked directly with the Texas Film Commission throughout the certification, submitting properties and potential sights.

The Texas Film Commission has attracted $1.5 billion in local spending and created more than 154,000 production jobs across the state from 2007 to 2019.
