College Station High School FFA chapter receives national distinctions

COLLEGE STATION, TX — The College Station High School FFA chapter is being recognized on a national level.

The chapter received a three-star ranking from the National FFA Association and also earned two top-10 national recognitions in innovative activities.

The three-star ranking is the highest ranking an FFA chapter can receive.

The two national recognitions came in two of only three categories.

In the "Growing Leaders" category, students participated in "Adulting 101: Real World Workshops." Students rotated through three "adult life" scenarios- changing a tire, practicing the Heimlich maneuver and creating a real-life budget.

The second recognition came in the Strengthening Agriculture category. Students and their families learning grilling safety in an activity called "Grilling 101: Call Your Friends NOT 911." Students safely used charcoal and gas grills, used a thermometer to properly cook meet and practiced using a fire extinguisher.

Chapter officers will present virtually this fall in the hopes of being selected as the Top Premier Chapter in one of those divisions.
