HOUSTON, TX — Texas A&M receiver, Demond Demas, has been arrested on a cannabis possession-related charge, according to the Brazos County Sheriff's Office.

Around 1 A.M. on March 16, Demas was reportedly speeding on State Highway 6 in Houston when a patrolling Deputy Sheriff pulled him over.

According to court documents, upon approaching Demas' parked Chevrolet Camaro, the Deputy Sheriff could detect a cannabis odor emitting from the inside.

The Deputy Sheriff then reportedly asked both Demas and his passenger to exit the vehicle. Conducting a probable cause search, the Deputy Sheriff allegedly found a plastic bottle containing a "green leafy substance", and brown wrapping papers.

Moving to the trunk, the Deputy Sheriff also reportedly found a backpack with a "usable amount of marijuana" inside; this was later weighed and found to be 0.01 ounces total.

Demas was booked into the Brazos County Jail and released to staff without any reported incidents.
