The Marlin Police Department has named their new police chief.

Michael Pesses was named the chief Thursday evening at a special meeting of the Marlin City Council.

Pesses previously served as a lieutenant with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

The previous police chief, Damien Eaglin, resigned from his position, citing a hostile work environment.

Earlier this year, Marlin Police made headlines after a police officer was arrested and accused of stealing firearms and evidence from a case was missing and later found.

Recently a Marlin police captain, Hector Gonzalez, was arrested and charged with sexual assault. Gonzalez resigned from his position Wednesday.
