KERRVILLE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team got some timely hitting in game one and a dominating pitching performance in game two to complete a series sweep of Schreiner University Saturday in Kerrville. UMHB won game one 5-2 and took the second game 3-0 to improve to 3-3 on the season. The Mountaineers drop to 1-5 on the year with the two losses.

The Cru put three runs on the board in the top of the fourth inning on the way to a 5-2 victory in game one. Dawson Shibley's sacrifice fly gave UMHB a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but Schreiner tied it up in the bottom of that frame. Landon Dieterich drove in a pair of runs and scored on Malek Bolin's single to make it 4-1 Cru in the fourth. The Mountaineers added a run in the bottom of that inning, but Caimyn Holiday added some insurance with an RBI groundout in the top of the fifth. Ross Baer scattered seven hits to pick up the win and Andrew Hutchings closed it out to earn his first save for UMHB.
Bolin and Jack Herbert had two hits apiece to lead the Cru's eight-hit attack.

Aaron Edelmon threw a shutout in his first pitching start for UMHB as the Cru took a 3-0 decision in the second game. Jacob Dellipoali's RBI single provided the only run Edelmon needed in the top of the second. Shibley singled home a run and Holiday scored on a wild pitch to provide some breathing room in the top of the fourth and Edelmon did the rest. He scattered nine hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter to earn his first win for the Cru. Shibley and Mitch Patterson both had two hits in the victory.

UMHB returns home to face Trinity University in the 2019 home opener Tuesday at 6 pm. The Cru will then play a three-game, non-conference series at U.T.-Tyler next weekend.
