Baylor acrobatics & tumbling senior top/tumbler Hope Bravo and junior top Joie Hensley earned NCATA Athlete of the Week and Specialist of the Week honors respectively, as the organization announced Thursday.
Bravo (Athlete) competed in nine heats in the Bears’ opening victory over West Liberty. She led the squad to a score of 9.40 or higher in eight of those nine events, including a perfect 10.0 score in the compulsory toss event and a 9.70 out of a possible 9.80 in the aerial tumbling heat.
Hensley (Specialist) played an important role in Baylor’s highest scoring tosses in the team event, as well as competing individually in the toss portion where her kick double toss warrants a 10.0 start value. Her performance received minimal to no deductions during the meet at West Liberty.
This is the first time that either Bravo or Hensley have been honored by the NCATA. The awards mark six consecutive weeks that Baylor has had at least one player honored by the NCATA, dating back to the 2018 season.
