Limestone County officials seized 27 gaming machines and thousands of dollars in cash at a Mexia business on Wednesday.

According to police, the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team executed a search warrant at a business in the 1200 block of East Milam Street in Mexia. The search warrant was the result of an extensive investigation into illegal gambling and gaming machines in the area.

The JCAT investigation was led by Mexia police with assistance from Groesbeck police and the Limestone County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials said they will continue their investigation into illegal gambling in the area and encourage citizens to report criminal activity.

Mexia police released a statement on Facebook about the investigation:

This operation could not have been possible without the unwavering support and efforts of both the Groesbeck Police Department and the Limestone County District Attorney’s Office. This continued solidarity is a shining example of what can happen when our agencies come together for the common good of not only our respective communities, but for ALL the citizens of Limestone County. Good job to all those involved.
