AUSTIN, Texas — The Baylor women’s tennis team fell to No. 6 Texas, 4-0 Sunday at the Texas Tennis Center to close the ITA National Kickoff weekend.
The Bears (5-2) took a win over Wichita State Saturday, but Sunday the Longhorns handed Baylor its first loss since the season opener to Hawaii. Narrow decisions on the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles courts favored Texas as the Longhorns took each match 6-4.
Three Texas players that were ranked in the ITA Top 125 took victories Sunday in two sets. No. 49 Anna Turati defeated Jessica Hinojosa in two sets, No. 53 Petra Granic beat Kris Sorokolet in two, and No. 77 Fernanda Labrana sealed the win for Texas with a two-set victory over BU’s Paula Barañano.
