Blue Bell is starting the new year off by celebrating with Mardi Gras King Cake ice cream.

The flavor has been around since 2012, the ice cream flavor was only released select areas known for its Mardi Gras celebrations, like Louisiana and Alabama.

In 2019, the ice cream can be found at all stores that sellBlue Bell ice cream.

“Last year a grocery store in Louisiana posted about the flavor’s arrival on its Facebook page and we started receiving requests from all over the country. After that, we decided to share this festive flavor with everyone in our distribution area,” said Carl Breed, corporate sales manager for Blue Bell.

The ice cream is inspired by Mardi Gras desserts and is made with cinnamon cake-flavored ice cream, pastry pieces and a colorful cream cheese swirl with festive candy sprinkles.

The flavor is a combination of two previous Blue Bell ice creams, Mardi Gras, introduced in 2004, and King Cake, introduced in 2006.

The ice cream is in stores the first week of the new year in a half gallon size for a limited time.
