The Gatesville ISD Superintendent was appointed deputy superintendent of Killeen ISD on Tuesday.

According to a Killeen ISD spokesman, Eric Penrod was appointed deputy superintendent of the area’s largest school district by the Killeen ISD school board.

Penrod is a 19-year veteran educator and he will fill in the vacancy created when Dr. DesMontes Stewart left to become the superintendent of Gainesville ISD.

He started his education career in 1999 as a teacher and coach at Lake Travis High School. He then taught at Leander ISD before joining Marble Falls High School as principal.

“(I will) base all decisions on what is best for students, ensure that every student receives a quality education, not by chance but by design, and to treat students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members with dignity, respect and passion,” Penrod said.
