There may soon be a new Task Force in Central Texas dedicated to stopping arsonists.
The Temple Fire Department is partnering with the local fire marshals and fire departments throughout Bell County in hopes of creating a new Anti-Arson Task Force.
The department said that compared to national numbers, Bell County has a large percentage of fires that were set intentionally.
They say the new specialized task force would be dedicated to solving these types of crimes which has been difficult with limited resources.
“One particular agency may have skills at one particular type of fire that other agencies don’t have. So, we can draw from those skills and we can help them if we have skills that they don’t have,” said Lucas Dragoo, Captain with the Temple Fire Department.
The task force is still in the planning stages, but the Temple Fire Department said they hope to get it up and running as soon as possible.
