The nonprofit, Keep Texas Beautiful, has recognized Keep Salado Beautiful as one of the five communities to receive funding to support and maintain native plant-filled gardens.
Keep Salado Beautiful is one of the recipients of the 2018 Native Garden Grant, provided by Nissan North America. Salado has received $800 to supply their garden with native species to serve as a model to educate and engage community members on their local habitats.
Keep Salado Beautiful has partnered with Salado Montessori to aid in the restoration and cultivation of the garden.
“Our desire with this project is to demonstrate how a small patch of ground can provide beauty for people and food for small creatures, thereby inspiring our parents and the community to nurture and take pride in their own native pollinators while repairing the Earth we all share,” Alissa McClure, Founder of the Salado Montessori said.
