The suspect of a manhunt is in custody Thursday evening.

Whitney police said that they were working a manhunt on Highway 22 towards Hill County.

The Hill County Sheriff's Office said that the hours-long manhunt ended after Bosque County shooting suspect Christopher Appleby, 33, was taken into custody.

Officials said that Appleby was a suspect in a shooting that occurred in Bosque County on Wednesday. Officials responded to a disturbance at a home in Bosque County when Appleby fled from the home.

Authorities chased Appleby through Bosque County, over the Whitney Dam and into Hill County. The suspect jumped out of his vehicle in the 100 block of Tall Timber Trail. Officials saw that he had a weapon.

According to Whitney ISD, the area of the manhunt interfered with routes 1, 12 and 14. Students on those routes were held at their respective campuses until they were picked up by their parents.

The suspect was taken into custody.

The Bosque County Sheriff's Office, Hill County Sheriff's Office, Hill County Emergency Management Constable Pct. 2, Whitney police and the Texas Department of Public Safety were all on scene.

No injuries were reported.

He is being transported to the Bosque County Jail.
