The annual 5K Walk for Breast Cancer is happening in Killeen this Saturday.

Folks in Killeen will be joining the Metroplex Foundation in a 5K walk on Saturday, all to raise awareness for breast cancer.

The walk will start at Lions Club Park in Killeen at 8 a.m. but those participating must check in between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Metroplex said the proceeds from Saturday's walk will help fund free mammograms for women that otherwise could not afford them.

The director of the Metroplex Foundation, Taneika Moultrie said, “The money raised does go to the women’s center there at Metroplex Hospital. Those who are uninsured and who qualify to get a free mammogram screening during the month of October.”

Registration for the event is $25 and those who can’t pre-register can and do so during the check-in time between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
