Two Killeen ISD schools initiated external lockdown after 'potential situation' in nearby neighborhood

A Killeen ISD middle and high school initiated an external lockdown on Wednesday.

According to Killeen ISD, at approximately 9:45 a.m. the Gateway complex was notified by Killeen police of a potential situation in the neighborhood. For caution, the campus initiated external lockdown procedures.

The students at Gateway Middle School and high school remained safe throughout the process and students continued to transition to and from classes.

The external lockdown was lifted at approximately 10:20 a.m. and the campus resumed all normal daily operations.

Parents were notified about the incident through the Killeen ISD’s call system.
