Police have arrested a man in connection to a 2017 aggravated sexual assault.

On Wednesday, Tommy Lee Stewart was indicted for aggravated sexual assault.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim told police he was sexually assaulted by a man he only knew as "Peanut" in September 2017.

A condom used by the suspect was found by police next to the bed where the assault reportedly took place.

During the investigation, the victim was able to help police identify the suspect as Stewart. Stewart was contacted by police during a traffic stop, and he consented to providing police with a DNA buccal swab.

The DNA matched DNA found on the inside and outside of the condom, the affidavit says.

Police tried multiple times to interview Stewart but he refused.

On July 24, Stewart was taken to the McLennan County Jail on an aggravated sexual assault charge. His bond was set at $25,000.
