A man was taken to jail after police said he "popped" his wife in the mouth after she allegedly cursed at him.
Bellmead police said it happened on July 18 just after 9 p.m. in the 3700 block of Harrison Street. Officers said that Jerry Whitt, 70, told them that he had "popped her in the mouth" after his wife called him a curse word.
The victim told police that Whitt had pointed a knife and pistol at her, threatening to kill her if she got out.
Whitt was taken to McLennan County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence.
