Baylor volleyball had returning All-Americans Yossiana Pressley, Shelly Fanning and Hannah Lockin earn a spot on the 2018 Preseason All-Big 12 Team, selected by a vote of the league’s head coaches and announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Sophomore All-American Yossiana Pressley is the team’s second-straight unanimous selection to the preseason list, joining Katie Staiger’s honor in 2017. Pressley averaged 3.62 kills per set while playing in the opposite and outside hitter positions as a freshman. The Big 12 Freshman of the Year led the conference in kills and points per set, a league first.
Redshirt junior All-American Shelly Fanning earns her second preseason conference honor after being recognized in 2016. Fanning posted the best single-season hitting percentage in program history, posting a .376 efficiency in the middle. She is a two-time All-Big 12 honoree heading into the 2018 season.
Sophomore All-American Hannah Lockin earns her first preseason nod after earning All-Region First Team, All-Big 12 Second Team and Big 12 All-Freshman Team recognition in 2017. Lockin produced the third-best setter performance by a freshman in program history, logging 11.23 per set in her first season in Waco.
The Big 12 will release the 2018 preseason team poll on Thursday.
Baylor will look to build on a 24-7 season in 2017 that led the Bears to a historic second-straight NCAA postseason run and the No. 12 overall tournament seed. BU also posted its highest finish in conference action with a 13-3 record for second place in the Big 12.
The Bears kick off the 2018 season on Aug. 24 with “Pack The House” Night against LSU at 7 p.m. CT, hosting the Hampton Inn & Suite Waco North Baylor Invitational at the Ferrell Center.
