A Rockdale man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of sexual assault.
According to District Attorney Bill Torrey, the jury deliberated in less than an hour finding 53-year-old Ricky Lee Murray guilty of sexual assault, a second-degree felony.
The State showed that the 30-year-old victim was sexually assaulted by Murray in her own residence while in an unmedicated state. The victim was not able to adequately combat Murray, according to Torrey.
Three weeks after the sexual assault, the victim took her own life.
The sentencing for Murray is scheduled for a future date in July after a presentence investigation in District Judge John W. Youngblood’s 20th District Court.
