A nonprofit group that ensures children don't go hungry in Central Texas is seeking help.
Pack of Hope volunteers fill bags with food and send them home to children in need of food on the weekend.
During the school year, the 18 school districts the group works with helps them distribute the food to the children. However, in the summer months, Pack of Hope takes the bags to the community center and summer food programs that serve those kids.
"During the summer, these children aren't at school so the challenge is getting food for the kids that don't have an opportunity to go to the school or do a summer feeding site or maybe because of traffic or transportation issues," Pack of Hope Co-founder Cliff Reece said. "They can't get to where the food is, so there is much greater need during the summer."
He added the best way to help is by volunteering, hosting food drives or donating.
