The division of pre-hospital medicine at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple are conducting special first of its kind training for police to decrease opioid-related overdose deaths.

In 2015, the Texas Senate passed a bill that allows law enforcement to carry and administer lifesaving medication to give to individuals suspected of an opioid overdose with an increased chance of survival.

Baylor Scott & White Health doctors and nurses will educate Bell County Sheriff’s deputies on what to do in these situations. The medication will be provided by the Texas Overdose Naloxone Initiative.
