National Police week comes to an end, and the Waco Police Department hit the trail and broke a sweat for a good cause.
Runners and walkers were out at Brazos Park East for the Annual Police Memorial 5K and 10K runs on Saturday, May 19.
The event has happened every year for the last ten years and raises money for the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.
"It's been done for a number of years its kind of in honor of fallen officers and first responders in our city and everywhere else," Terry Williams, President of Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.
Apart from raising the money, officers say the Memorial Run is a great way for the public to get to know the police officers serving in their community.
