Three Baylor women’s tennis student-athletes were recognized by the Big 12 Conference for on the court accomplishments Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore Camilla Abbate was named to the All-Big 12 second team for singles, while freshmen Livia Kraus and Kristina Sorokolet were All-Freshman team selections. All three earn their first career conference awards.

Abbate compiled a 5-2 mark in Big 12 action this year, competing primarily at No. 2 singles. She owns a 19-7 record this season, posting a 6-2 mark at No. 2 singles, a 7-4 record at No. 3 singles and a 6-1 mark at No. 4 singles. The Bologna, Italy, native has registered three victories against ranked foes, one in conference play.

Kraus leads the Bears with 24 wins on the season to only six losses and is riding an eight-match singles win streak. She played her way to a 4-2 mark in Big 12 action, competing in the No. 6 singles slot for Baylor. The Nieder-Olm, Germany, native went 2-0 at No. 4 singles, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and 9-1 at the No. 6 singles position.

Sorokolet posted a 2-3 mark in conference play, competing for the Bears at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions in her debut season. The Moscow, Russia, native has posted a 3-3 mark at No. 1 singles, a 2-4 record at No. 2 singles, a 1-1 mark at No. 3 singles and a 1-1 record at No. 4 singles.

Baylor, ranked 25th nationally, opens NCAA Championships action on Friday, May 11 against 36th-ranked NC State at 12 p.m. (CT). The match will be played at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the campus of UCLA.
