UMHB men's golf finishes sixth at ASC tournament

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s golf team dropped one spot in the team standings on the final day and the Cru finished in sixth place at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Tuesday in Austin. The tournament closes out the season for the UMHB men.

The Cru fired a final round 313 to finish with a 314-305-313=932 to take sixth place in the team standings. U.T.-Tyler won its third ASC title after shooting 287-297-287=871. The Patriots edged Concordia Texas’ 296-291-288=875 by four strokes. U.T.-Dallas finished third at 296-300-296=892, Hardin-Simmons University took fourth place with a 296-303-302=901 and LeTourneau University claimed fifth place with a 315-307-303=925. Howard Payne University was seventh with a 316-315-313=944 and Louisiana College rounded out the eight-team field with a 325-331-352=1008.

Kyle Revis posted the low individual finish for the UMHB men. Revis tied for 13thplace after firing an 80-72-75=227. Cade Govender took 23rd place after shooting 75-75-83=233, Cort Crawley was 24th with a 79-78-80=237, Zach Daroowala carded an 80-80-78=238 for 25th place and Kade Bentley’s 86-82-80=248 was good for a share of 34th place. Tyler Uhlig of U.T.-Tyler won individual medalist honors after posting 68-71-70=209 for a seven-stroke victory over Concordia Texas’ Ryan McGinley (68-77-71=216).

The two-day, 54-hole event was played on a par-72, 7,023-yard layout at Avery Ranch Golf Club in Austin. U.T.-Tyler also clinches the ASC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships with the win. The tournament closes out the UMHB careers of Cru seniors Bentley, Daroowala and Revis.
