The Lampasas County Sheriff's office said that the death of a former KISD teacher was a murder-suicide.

On Nov. 3, Lampasas County deputies and Texas Rangers found the body of 66-year-old Harold Francis Leate Jr. lying in the front yard of his residence in the 200 block of County Road 3344.

On Nov. 17, the sheriff's office stated that they believed Leate was stabbed by his ex-wife Grace before she overdosed on drugs.

The sheriff's office said that Grace Leate was located in a Harker Heights hotel. She was rushed to Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights after being found unconscious. She had checked in to a hotel days before her ex-husband's body was found.

The couple divorced in 2014, but Leate was living with Francis at the time of the crime. Grace was a registered sex offender in Lampasas County.

Grace died at Temple Scott and White due to complications from the overdose.

Leate was a teacher at Nolan Middle School.

No other information was released.
