The China Spring Neighborhood Association started about 6 months ago to begin discussing how to grow the area in a smart way.

The group represents the community to local and state government.

The group formed after the City of Waco held a meeting in China Spring to talk about the parks plan.

Over the last several years, the China Spring area has seen more subdivisions pop up. According to the group, the schools are starting to fill up.

This month, they started to talk about adding things like a park and a grocery store.

"Many of us feel like we aren't seeing enough green spaces, sidewalks, things for children to do in the neighborhoods. So that's one of the things that's really been on our list is green spaces, hike and bike trails," Julie Talbert, a member of the group, said.

Talbert said their biggest concern at this point is safety with the road construction currently along China Spring Road.
