A man involved in an hours-long standoff in 2014 and shot at an officer has been sentenced to life in prison.

McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna said Thursday that Ronald Kennedy was sentenced to life in prison and a $30,000 fine.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute call on the 1100 block of N. 6th Street in June of 2014.

When they arrived on the scene, Kennedy shot at police and fled the scene on foot. He barricaded himself inside a relative's home for 8 hours.

Kennedy faced attempted capital murder, burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault, evading arrest with prior convictions and unlawful possession of a firearm.
